Sound preservation and restoration in Canada – A Testimonial Much of the transfer work for the Gala Label is done at Library and Archives Canada (LAC). The staff of the LAC and the audio-conservators have built world-class facilities. The work they do is splendid and they have an excellent reputation throughout the world. Audio transfers and restoration of old recordings is crucial, if you want them to last and inform future generations. The transfer, restoration work of the master technicians, Gilles St-Laurent and Chris Bradley, is top notch. The Gala CDs, engineered from 78-rpm discs and from varying source material, are clear winners for vivid sound and thus for the enjoyment of many listeners. Gerald F. Parker |
